Friscup hits the beach

I introduced friscup to you here, during the wedding weekend. Then you may have taken a look at the Epic friscup competition here.  Now I bring you....friscup on the beach.

Reflectors, solo cups, frisbee, what could be simpler?  Nice sunny beach, waves in the background.  Perfect spot for the game of the summer.

I don't believe Surfside has ever seen friscup.  The guys certainly had plenty of interested and amused spectators and a couple of joiners, too.  First, they tried it right near the water.  That makes rinsing off when you hit the sand quicker, but falling a little harder.

Then they moved to the soft sand at the top of the beach.  Nicer for falling.

which they did a LOT!

Did he catch that one?

Remember the rules?  You throw the frisbee and try to hit the sticks.  One point for your team if you knock off a cup.  A point for the other team if they catch it.  Three points if the frisbee goes between the sticks without touching them.  Simple.

But, alas, catching that flying cup is harder than you think!

See!

Matthew always wins the prize as the most emotive player, in victory and defeat.

In case you want to read up on the sport of the summer, it's actually known "officially" as Frickets.  It even has it's own website.  Who knew?  Apparently, from the looks of the home page, it must be a pretty nice fall sport, too.  I'm just waiting to see if it gets played in the snow.  I wouldn't be surprised.

I've got to get my boys to try this game - it looks like great fun! Perhaps they'd perfect the snow version :)
