When you roll out dough,

sometimes you get noodles

homemade noodles drying

and sometimes you get pie!

Last Thursday, my friend, Natalia, came over for the afternoon to cook.  We made noodles which we served with a lovely saute of onions, red, green, and yellow peppers, yellow and zucchini squash, and fresh basil topped with freshly ground parmesan.

We also made the delicious kale salad and some crusty-whole-wheat-baked-in-the-Dutch-oven bread.

Finally, we prepared a peach pie. Not from the same dough as the noodles.  My tattered Joy of Cooking pie crust recipe using all butter instead of shortening was the perfect recipe for a crust that was flaky and tender. And the fresh peach filling.  Soooo tasty, as we say around here.

There are few pairings of words that sound better to my ears than "peach" and "pie." By themselves, they sound great. But together, "soooo tasty" is right. Or en espanol, "que sabroso!!!" Especially made by two women so skilled in the kitchen. Now I'm hungry...

Definitely one of my most memorable days this whole summer. Thanks so much, Beth!
